What is Scuba Diving?

Scuba diving, also shortly known as scuba, is a discipline of diving carried out with equipment such as a wetsuit and goggles and a cylinder that allows breathing underwater. The term “Scuba” stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. This activity dates back to the early 19th century.

At What Depths Is Scuba Diving Performed?

The depth limit in scuba diving activity for divers who are not at a professional level, that is, those who do it as a kind of hobby, is 30 - 40 meters on average. A special training or a partner will be required if one wants to scuba dive to greater depths. The world record in scuba diving belongs to Ahmed Gabr with 332 meters.

What Type of Training is Needed for Scuba Diving?

Scuba diving training involves three main stages as theoretical lessons, pool dives and sea dives. The theoretical part usually involves lectures accompanied by videos and books. Students receive their first applied training to gain the knowledge and skills they will need at sea during training in the pool. Diving in the sea with the instructors is the final stage. Students are required to fulfill the performance conditions during diving sessions in the pool and int the sea in order to successfully complete the course.
